AUBURN, Wash. — Auburn police arrested two robbery suspects Tuesday after automated license plate reader (ALPR) cameras alerted officers to their vehicle.
According to the Auburn Police Department, detectives had identified the vehicle as being connected to two suspects wanted for robbery and entered it into the department’s ALPR system.
Police report that around 3 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 20, cameras detected the vehicle traveling southbound on I Street NE.
Officers with the department’s Tactical Patrol Unit were conducting patrols near Brannan Park and found the vehicle after it entered the park.
Police conducted a “high-risk traffic stop” and arrested both suspects. Officers say a gun was found on one of them.
The department detailed the arrest as an example of how its license plate reader cameras can help officers locate wanted suspects.
