THURSTON COUNTY, Wash. — The Washington State Patrol (WSP) says a suspicious device found near the Capitol State Forest in Thurston County was confirmed to be an explosive.
The WSP bomb squad responded at around 4:48 p.m. near Waddell Creek Road and 90th Lane Southwest and nearby homes and buildings were evacuated.
Trooper Kameron Watts says the device was safely recovered and there is no remaining safety threat in the area.
The Thurston County Sheriff’s Office says the device may have been a pipe bomb.
