When a speeding Amtrak train plunged off an overpass onto Interstate 5, three Joint-Base Lewis McChord officers rushed to help.
Today, two of them received one of the Army's highest honors.
Lt. Colonel David Sloan and Major Michael Livingston were both on interstate five on the morning of December 18, 2017 when they drove up and saw the train crash.
Sloan, a medical service corps officer, and Livingston, a nurse anesthetist, were traveling in separate cars.
