Arlington approves new regulations for electric scooters and e-bikes

ARLINGTON, Wash. — The Arlington City Council voted to approve new regulations for electric scooters and e-bikes, joining other Snohomish County municipalities with active guidelines for the devices, said the city of Arlington.

They say the updated Arlington policy mirrors regulations adopted by Everett in July.

The rules establish specific restrictions depending on the classification of the electric bicycle.

Under the new policy, Class three e-bikes are allowed on city roadways and bike lanes. However, Class three e-bikes remain prohibited from operating within city parks, on sidewalks, and on shared-use paths.

Class one and Class two e-bikes are authorized to operate on shared-use paths. Riders operating Class one and Class two e-bikes on these paths must reduce their speed when traveling through crowded areas or when approaching people on foot.
