Amtrak has extended its suspension of service between Seattle and Portland to August 19.
Trains have been out of service for over a week because of a track obstruction caused by a warehouse fire near Portland.
Buses are being provided for most scheduled trains. However, Amtrak says some departures have been canceled due to limited bus availability.
Customers can rebook to another day at no additional charge or cancel for a full refund.
Amtrak will contact impacted customers through text message, email and the Amtrak app.
“We appreciate your patience and understanding as we prioritize the well-being of our employees and customers,” Amtrak shared.
Trains between Seattle and Vancouver, BC, and trains between Portland and Eugene are running normally.
“For people asking how close the steel water tower and fire-damaged building is to the tracks, this photo, taken prior to the fire, shows how close,” Amtrak shared.
The Centennial Mills Warehouse in Portland caught fire on August 2. Portland Fire and Rescue said the 116-year-old building was at risk of collapsing because of the damage. Demolition crews safely brought the water tower down on Monday.
