High temperatures reached 80 in Yelm and Federal Way Thursday, and temperatures throughout the Seattle area stayed in the comfortable mid-70s. However, the weather will start to change over the next couple of days. It’s all about the wind direction.
Starting later tonight and continuing through Friday, onshore winds will return. This will bring the typical morning clouds back to the area, giving us overcast weather in the morning before sunshine breaks in the afternoon.
We haven’t seen much fog for the past few mornings, but more widespread fog could start Friday across Puget Sound. Nothing unusual about this weather pattern, but you will notice the changes compared to the last few days.
Each morning, temperatures will drop to the low 50s and upper 40s in some cooler spots. It will take a few hours to break up the morning clouds and fog, but afternoon sunshine should help us get into the low 70s through this weekend.
Make plans for outdoor activities while the chance of rain remains well below 20%. Some morning stratus clouds could produce a little drizzle or sprinkles along the coast, but it doesn’t look like a wet weather pattern.
Long-range forecast models for next week show a weak weather system moving into the area on Tuesday. Clouds and a few showers should increase, and high temperatures will probably stay in the upper 60s next week.
