Magnitude 4.2 earthquake hits near Belfair

A magnitude 4.2 earthquake hit about 11 miles west-northwest of Belfair on Wednesday night.

The quake struck at 8:59 p.m.

There have been no reports of damage.

People have reported feeling the quake in Port Orchard, Bremerton, Seabeck, Gig Harbor, Tacoma, Shelton and Tumwater.

The state Department of Emergency Management said more than 2,000 people reported feeling the quake.

The Pacific Northwest Seismic Network shared video of the 4.2 quake near Belfair as it hit their seismographs.

The National Weather Service of Seattle said there was no tsunami threat.

Just after 10:05 p.m., a magnitude 4.8 earthquake struck near Vancouver Island.
