RENTON, Wash. — A two-alarm fire completely destroyed a home in Renton early Saturday morning.

Firefighters responded to the fire in the 400 block of Maple Avenue Southwest just before 4 a.m., according to the Renton Regional Fire Authority.

“This house here has been a house known to have homeless people in it,” said Pat Pawlak with Puget Sound Fire, who serves as the Zone 3 PIO for RRFA. “The person reporting the fire saw … four or more individuals running away from the scene.”

The fire started on the west end of the house, then extended into the garage area and main living quarters.

Units from multiple agencies responded and it took over an hour for crews to put out the flames.

The house was vacant, but was slowly being renovated, according to Pawlak.

No injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
