Local fans remembering life of David Bowie

SEATTLE — Monday morning, fans are waking up to the news that legendary musician David Bowie died Sunday after losing a secret fight with cancer.

In a statement on Facebook, Bowie's family said he passed away Sunday.

Local fans are sharing their Bowie memories on the KIRO 7 Facebook page.

“I saw Bowie during the Serious Moonlight Tour at the Tacoma Dome on August 11, 1983 I think it was. I remember it being a great show! Thanks for some great music and fond memories! Rest easy DB,” said Kevin Hall.

“Bowie was one of my favorite singers/artists. He showed me that you don't allow the world to title you . He will be missed. 'I don't know where I'm going from here, but I promise it won't be boring,' -David Bowie,” said Meg Ingram.

Bowie turned 69 on Friday, the same day he released his new album, “Blackstar.”

Nearly 40 years ago, Bowie recorded a live album during a concert at the Seattle Center Coliseum, now known as Key Arena.

The album is called "Station to Calvary Seattle 1976."

The show was one of several memorable concerts Bowie played in the Puget Sound area.

Over the years, Bowie played at least six concerts in Tacoma and Seattle.

In 2013, the Experience Music Project museum showed an exhibit featuring Bowie's Goblin King outfit from the well-known movie, “Labyrinth.”

In 1992, Bowie was in the Twin Peaks movie, “Fire Walk With Me,” which was filmed in various locations in Washington State including Monroe, Snohomish, Fall City, Bellevue, North Bend and Seattle, according to entertainment site IMBD.
