Is Katy Perry moving to Seattle?
Probably not, unless you believe everything you read on the Internet.
Radio stations and Reddit users were speculating about the “California Gurls” possible move, citing “reports.”
But the one "report" came from Headline Brief, an aggregation website that referenced an interview, but didn't say where the interview was given.
The apparently bogus story claims Perry was “tired of the LA lifestyle” and that she wanted to “live in a place where people were just people and whose sincerity you didn’t have to question.”
The post doesn’t include a date, attribution or names other than Perry’s.
There also have been other bogus reports about Perry moving to a small town in South Carolina, a small town in Texas and another small town in Alabama. In each of cases, so-called news sites aggregated the fake stories.
A fake report of Justin Bieber moving to Minnesota also spread recently, in part by so-called news sites aggregating the bogus story.
One thing we know is true: Perry is buddies with Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson.
“I love the Seahawks,” she said in a press briefing before the team’s second Super Bowl appearance, "because of Russell Wilson.”
