5 people detained after Lake City shooting; police still investigating

SEATTLE — A man was shot in the leg after an argument at an apartment complex in Lake City.

The shooting happened at 143rd Street and 32nd Avenue in Lake City around 10:15 a.m. Medics transported the man to Harborview Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries.

A group of men and women had been in a dispute at a nearby apartment building just before the shooting, police say. When the group emerged from the building, at least one man involved in the dispute opened fire, striking the victim.

Police said they are searching for four men and a woman, who may have fled back into the building following the shooting. However, three people have been taken into custody.

Around 1 p.m., police said they detained five people in the shooting.

Streets in the area around 143rd Street are closed as police investigate.

Police looked into whether the shooting suspect was barricaded in a nearby building around 11 a.m. Officers are still investigating the incident.

This is the fourth shooting in King County in a 24-hour period. Investigators have not said the shootings are related.
