FIFE, Wash. — As Eric Spry made his first appearance in court, he refused to answer questions from reporters saying only “no comment, thank you” when asked if he sent sexually oriented messages to a 15-year-old girl on Twitter.
Spry, 33, was arrested Saturday after the girl, who is now in high school, told another teacher about the messages. That teacher went to school officials who notified police.
According to a probable cause affidavit, Spry, who was once the girl's substitute teacher.
The affidavit quoted several messages including one in which Spry wrote “he bet she was good at cuddling and he wanted her to turn 16 so she could drive over to his house and cuddle.”
In another message prosecutors say Spry told the girl “not to get too big at the gym and liked her little.”
The affidavit states, “they also discussed a hug between them and how he liked it.”
“I think it’s kind of gross and weird and shouldn’t be happening,” said Columbia student Hannah Davidson.
“It’s kind of creepy,” added Wyatt Kennedy. “I thought I could trust teachers.”
Spry pleaded not guilty to the charges on Tuesday. He remains free on bail.
