Public health officials are investigating a stomach flu outbreak associated with a Seattle food truck.

El Camion 3, a Mexican food truck that operates in the 4300 block of 15th Avenue NW, has shut down after reports of gastroenteritis.

Symptoms of gastroenteritis include vomiting, diarrhea, aches and cramps.

The outbreak was reported by two separate customers who became ill after eating at the truck between Feb. 29 and Monday.

Neither customer was hospitalized, health officials say. They illness was first reported to officials on March 1. The second report came in on March 8.

Public health officials evaluated the truck and it’s commissary on Wednesday, identifying factors that may have contributed to the illness, including improper cooling and storing potentially hazardous food at room temperature.

Health officials suspended the truck’s permit and destroyed the potentially hazardous foods following their inspection.

Per public health policy, the mobile vendor’s permit was suspended. The truck must remain closed until reopened by Public Health.

El Camion also operates a brick-and-mortar restaurant located in the 6400 block of 15th Avenue NW.

Though it has not been implicated in the outbreak, the store has closed voluntarily until further notice.
