Gun store burglarized in Kitsap County

GORST, Wash. — Burglars fled after setting off the alarm at a gun store in the Gorst area of South Kitsap.

The alarm was tripped at Boerner Firearms in the 4200 block of State Highway 3 West at 4:53 a.m. Wednesday.

Firefighters stationed at South Kitsap Fire & Rescue Station 16, located across the highway from the store, arrived first and told patrol units on the way to the scene what they saw.

Kitsap County deputies and detectives arrived at 5:06 a.m.  Bremerton police officers helped deputies ensure no one remained inside the building.

Police said two people were believed to be involved in the burglary with gender, ages and race to be determined as the investigation continues.

The number and types of guns that were stolen in the burglary will be determined when the store examines its inventory.

The store’s security system video footage and additional evidence is being reviewed.  One suspect seen in the video system appears to be wearing a light-colored hooded sweatshirt, baseball cap and a mask.
