SEA TAC, Wash. — King County sheriff's deputies are investigating after a woman was stabbed and killed and her brother was stabbed and severely injured at a SeaTac apartment.
The brother was last reported in critical condition at Harborview Medical Center.
The attack happened at the Sky View Park Villa apartments on South 180th Street.
Deputies received a 911 call at 10:40 a.m. from a man in a unit on the second floor.
He was bleeding badly from stab wounds and said his sister had been killed.
Neighbors said they've never worried about their safety until now.
"Yeah, I never even think that way but now I'm so scared," Sintayheu Molla said.
Inside, deputies found the woman's body.
They say both victims were in their 20s, Ethiopian, and that the woman was believed to be living there with her mother, although her mom wasn't at home.
Deputies said the man was disoriented and hurt so badly that it's possible the crime may have happened last night and he just regained consciousness.
Before being rushed to the hospital, he told deputies that two men in beanies came to the apartment demanding money.
King County Sheriff's Office Public Information Officer Cindi West said there are still a lot of unanswered questions.
"Did they know the suspect, did they not know the suspect, was there some type of relationship between them?" she said.
Deputies said they've received calls to the address for more minor cases like larcenies, vandalism and one misdemeanor assault, but nothing at this level of violence.
According to SeaTac Police, the city has had three homicides since August of 2012: two shootings and now this stabbing.
They said in the two years before, there were zero homicides, although there were two between August 2009 and August 2010.
Molla, who's lived next door to the complex for seven years, said she doesn't want to stay in the neighborhood.
"This is very scary right now," she said.
"You're thinking about moving out?" KIRO 7 asked.
"Oh yeah," she said. "Of course."
Deputies are asking everyone in the neighborhood to be cautious. They intend to interview the victim at Harborview once he's stable so they can learn more details about who may be suspects.
