EXCLUSIVE VIDEO: Alex Rodriguez, Ken Griffey Jr. and David Ortiz in 1996 home run derby

Back in 1996, the Seattle Mariners traveled to Appleton, Wis., to play an exhibition with their Single-A team. But rain changed the plan, so the players organized a makeshift home run derby. KIRO 7 reporter Gary Horcher, who was there as a cub reporter, found the videotape this week and recalled the day watching at least two future Hall of Famers.

We also went back into the KIRO 7 archive to find videos of his draft day, a time when Mariners fans didn't want him to leave, and the day a Seattle sports columnist first called him Pay-Rod.
