KIRKLAND, Wash. — Kirkland police were pursuing a male suspect around 12:30 a.m. Wednesday morning when the suspect drove onto John Muir Elementary School property trying to get way.

The suspect crashed through a fence and a flower bed before continuing north on 132nd Ave NE. The suspect eventually drove down an embankment off 132nd Ave NE in Woodinville and was taken into custody.

A witness told KIRO 7 off camera that after the vehicle was stopped, Kirkland police had to use their K-9 to apprehend the suspect because he refused to comply. Police have not confirmed that.

Two police vehicles became stuck while pursuing the suspect. No officers were injured.

Police have not released the reason for the pursuit.
