Driver arrested in high-speed chase from Lacey to Tacoma

TACOMA, Wash. — A high-speed chase from Lacey to Tacoma was caught on Department of Transportation cameras.

Quick Facts:

The chase started in Thurston County and ended on the 38th street overpass north of Joint Base Lewis-McChord, where the driver got off the highway.

Troopers say the driver was traveling 80 to 90 mph during the 20-mile chase from Lacey to Tacoma.

Police got ahead of the driver, and deployed spike strips at least twice, but the driver was able to avoid them.

Officers stopped the driver by hitting the back end of the fleeing car in a PIT maneuver.

Moments later, officers swarmed the driver in the middle of the road with guns drawn.

Several agencies were involved, including the Pierce County Sheriff's Office.

No officers were hurt.

It is not yet known what sparked the chase.
