Detectives work to identify woman found dead near Vashon Island

VASHON ISLAND, Wash. — Detectives are working to identify a woman who was found dead in the Puget Sound near Vashon Island on Friday.

A man out rowing Fri. afternoon spotted her body in the water.

Police say he rowed to shore and asked a neighbor to call 911.

The body was retrieved; detectives have been unable to identify the woman.

Officials with the King Co. Sheriff’s office are asking for the public’s help identifying her.

Police have described her as:

  • An Asian or white female in her 40s
  • 5'1", 120 lbs, with no tattoos
  • Dyes her hair brown, has grey roots
  • Missing two teeth to the side of her upper front teeth

Detectives say she had been wearing:

  • Black sweater, 89th and Madison brand, sized small
  • White and pink striped dress, Jacob brand, sized 9/10
  • Black jacket, Lamour brand, quilted, sized medium
  • One grey glove
  • Woman's watch on her right hand, Carriage brand, gold face with a brown leather band
  • Red hair band on right wrist
  • Bra, underwear & stockings
