SEATTLE — Seattle police have identified a suspect in the shooting that killed a father of five in Rainier Beach last week.
Community leaders gathered in the parking lot of a Jack in the Box on Tuesday night, where 31-year-old Courtney Taylor was gunned down on Wednesday.
They were speaking with Seattle police Lt. John Hayes, who said 26-year-old Troy Sanders was the suspect in the case.
Church leaders urged Sanders to call them.
"We can create a safe environment for him to turn himself in," said Pastor Lawrence Willis with the United Black Clergy of Washington State.
Police said Sanders, who is also known as John Taylor, is believed to have gotten into a fight with Courtney Taylor after the filming of a music video. Both Sanders and the victim are rappers.
Afterward, Taylor and some others went to the Jack in the Box to get some food when the shooting occurred, investigators said.
Wiitnesses have been reluctant to come forward and a crowd was hostile with the first arriving officers.
Sanders is described as 5 feet 11 inches tall, 175 pounds with a light-skinned complexion. He has “Troy” tattooed on his lower right arm and “Boy” on his lower left arm.
Sanders may be driving a black 2001 Mercedes 500 four-door with license plate 359UKT.
Detectives would like to speak with anyone who may have been present during the video shoot or knows Sander's whereabouts. Anyone with information is asked to call the tip line at 206-233-5000. Anonymous tips are welcome.
