Police say drunken man looking for rumble at IHOP smacked officer

SEATTLE — Police were called after an agitated drunken man was harassing customers inside an IHOP restaurant on Capitol Hill early Wednesday, officers said.

Seattle police east precinct officers were called at 2:30 a.m. for a report that the man was picking fights with customers.

When officers took the 34-year-old man to the parking lot, he began screaming and hit one of the officers in the face, investigators said.

After a struggle, the man was taken into custody.

Both the man and officer were checked out at Harborview Medical Center.

The man was later booked into the King County Jail for investigation of assault.
