$8,000 reward offered for 'Duct Tape Bandit's' capture

Four Western Washington police agencies and two banks are offering a reward of up to $8,000 for anyone who can help them identify and charge a man dubbed the “Duct Tape Bandit.”

The Edmonds Police Department, Poulsbo Police Department, Redmond Police Department and Stanwood Police Department announced the reward in a joint news release.

The moniker comes from a piece of black duct tape the man has worn over his face during the robberies as an apparent disguise.

The robberies took place at the following locations:

  • May 24: Whidbey Island Bank in Stanwood
  • June 7: Key Bank in Poulsbo
  • June 20: Wells Fargo in Edmonds
  • August 8: First Citizens Bank in Redmond

In all four robberies, the man pulled out a handgun, demanded money and stuffed it into a white cloth bag, police said.

He’s described as white and in his mid-20s, and 5 feet 10 inches tall with a thin to medium build and short, light brown hair.

Anyone with information that can help identify a suspect is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 800-222-TIPS (8477).

Crime Stoppers is offering a reward of up to $1,000 if the tip leads to an arrest and charges filed. Wells Fargo is offering an additional reward of up to $5,000, and First Citizens Bank is offering up to $2,000 for information that leads to a capture and conviction of a suspect.
