LYNNWOOD, SEATTLE — Crashes jammed traffic on Interstate 5 in Lynnwood and South Seattle Tuesday morning.
Two crashes involving six vehicles snarled traffic on southbound Interstate 5 in Lynnwood about 7:15 a.m. Tuesday. Lanes were blocked just past the Interstate 405 split in the Alderwood area, but the crash has since cleared.
As of about 7:40 a.m. Tuesday, the backup was about five miles. By 8:30 a.m., there were still delays but the commute was improving.
There was also a major crash on northbound I-5 in South Seattle at 7:30 a.m. where a semi was partially jackknifed after colliding a car just before the Boeing Access Road. The two right lanes and the Martin Luther King Jr. Way exit were blocked. Someone was trapped in what is described as a serious injury crash.
At 8 a.m., the backup was about four miles.
The crash was fully cleared by 8:15 a.m. and the backup was unwinding from South 200th Street.
