Contractors fined in electrocution death of worker in Edmonds

EDMONDS, Wash. — Two contractors were levied with more than $50,000  in fines for alleged safety violations in a fatal accident at Swedish Hospital in Edmonds.

A worker, 38-year-old Jason Vanlandingham, was electrocuted in August while working on the hospital's expansion project when his jackhammer touched buried power lines.

According to the Herald, the contractors were fined for safety violations including failing to make sure power lines were turned off.

A report from the Department of Labor and Industries says Seattle’s Sellen Construction was fined $5,850, and Hos Brothers Construction of Woodinville was fined $50,500.
