BURIEN, Wash. — Federal officials said they have a plan to dispose of the fin whale that washed ashore in Burien Saturday.
They hope to take advantage of the high tide Tuesday night to tow the carcass to a secure, but unnamed site in south Puget Sound.
They'll leave the whale on the beach there and let it decompose.
Afterward, the skull will be available for display at a museum or educational institution.
The partial whale carcass washed up on the beach at Seahurst Park Saturday and drew hundreds of spectators.
The whale is believed to have been hit by a cargo ship.
