SEATAC, Wash. — A second body has been found stuffed into luggage this summer, this time in the city of SeaTac, but investigators say there is no connection between it and a body found in a suitcase in Kent.
"Our investigators do not believe the two are related," said King County Sheriff's Sgt. Stan Seo.
The duffel bag containing the body was found next to a dumpster at the Abbey Ridge Apartments at South 204th Street and 30th Avenue South by a worker at 8:30 a.m. on Monday.
Investigators say the body is decomposed and they cannot tell if it is a man or a woman.
Investigators are checking missing persons reports in SeaTac. They went door to door to talk to residents. The discovery was upsetting to Alicia Lopez. "He said we found a body in a suitcase by the dumpster. I was like what the hell. I was just down there taking out the trash just this morning," said Lopez. She didn't remember seeing any luggage.
Neighbor Sanel Karic said he did see a suitcase or duffel bag by the dumpster on Sunday. "I'm glad I didn't touch it, " said Karic who is glad he is moving. He didn't think it was odd to see the luggage at the dumpster because it was surrounded with garbage and belongings being thrown out by residents who are moving at the end of the month.
Detectives aren't sure how long the duffel bag was left at the dumpster. They are talking to residents to see if they have any information that will help.
The King County Sheriff's Office is still investigating a woman's body found in a suitcase in Kent at the end of May. Investigators don't know who she is and created a sketch after the medical examiner was unable to make a positive identification.
The medical examiner's office said the woman is believed to be white, 50 to 60 years old with a small build, about 5 feet 4 inches tall and 106 pounds. Her shoulder-length hair is black with gray streaks. Investigators were unable to determine how she died.
The King County Medical Examiner will conduct on autopsy on the remains found on Monday in SeaTac to try to identify the victim.
She was wearing sleeping-type clothes -- a purple, short sleeve shirt with flowers and an adult diaper. Follow this link to read more about the woman found in a suitcase along the Green River.
