EVERETT, Wash. — A man staying in the Hilton Garden Inn at Paine Field in Everett was killed when he jumped from the fourth-floor window of the hotel.

Snohomish County Sheriff's Office deputies were called to the hotel around 3 a.m. Friday for a report of an assault.

When officers arrived, they found a woman in one of the hotel rooms who had been attacked by a man.

She went to a nearby hospital with serious, but non-life-threatening injuries.

Police said the suspect in the attack barricaded himself in a fourth-floor hotel room when deputies tried to take him into custody.

He then threw a table through the room's window and jumped out, investigators said.

The man suffered critical head injuries and died at the scene before medics arrived.

Police said the identity of the man is not known, but he and the woman were both believed to be staying at the hotel.

Police said they don’t think the two were related or staying together.

The woman who was attacked is a 39-year-old from California.

The man's identity will be released by the Snohomish County Medical Examiner's Office.
