SEATTLE — The Wells Fargo bank in Belltown was robbed shortly after noon Tuesday by a man authorities have nicknamed the “Roscoe Bandit.”
The robbery was reported about 12:20 p.m. at 2800 Third Ave., near the Pacific Science Center and Denny Way.
The same man is believed to have robbed at least two different banks in the three days, most recently Tuesday in Seattle’s Belltown neighborhood.
The man may be black, in his late 30s, about 6 feet tall, with a light complexion. See photos from the robberies here.
During the robberies, he has worn a baseball cap and sunglasses and appeared to be armed with a handgun. The apparently long-barreled revolver led investigators to give the robber a nickname based on an early 19th century nickname for a handgun.
The man is wanted in connection with at least two bank robberies:
• Monday, July 28, 2014 – HomeStreet Bank on East Broadway, Seattle, WA
• Tuesday, July 29, 2014 – Wells Fargo Bank, on Third Avenue, Seattle WA
Anyone with information that can help identify the man is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477). Callers to Crime Stoppers may remain anonymous and are eligible to receive a cash reward of up to $1,000 if the information given leads to the arrest and charges of those involved in the crime. Callers may also contact Seattle Safe Streets Task Force Officer Detective Steve Hoover at 425-452-7868.
A man arrested near the Wells Fargo Bank Tuesday was initially thought to be a suspect in the robbery, but it was later determined that he was not. He was held on outstanding warrants.
