Another nice fall day Sunday, frost advisory sticks around for another night

SEATTLE, Wash. — An area of low pressure moved over Western Washington on Friday and Saturday, giving us a little rain and some cooler than normal temperatures.

The rain has almost moved away, but a few lingering showers are possible through this evening. Coverage will be isolated around Puget Sound. The cool weather will stick around for the day Sunday, but even with plenty of sunshine tomorrow, we still only manage to get up to 60° around Seattle Sunday afternoon.

A frost advisory is posted for parts of the area tonight and again tomorrow night. Skies will stay mostly clear, and winds will be light this evening. Away from the Puget Sound water, temperatures will drop into the 30s tonight. Some of the colder spots in the foothills and valleys south of Seattle will get below freezing for a few hours on Sunday morning. And, as mentioned, we will get a repeat performance with some frost in the area Monday morning.

It’s that time of year to bring in tender vegetation, and outdoor plants that you don’t want to lose with freezing weather.

Skies will be partly cloudy Sunday, and the high temperature will continue to run a few degrees below average. The average high for this time of year is 62°, and some places will still stay in the upper 50s tomorrow afternoon. We will go with the forecast high of 60° for the city of Seattle Sunday.

It looks like high-pressure will build in for Monday and Tuesday next week and give us two good days with partly cloudy weather and temperatures in the low 60s.

Overnight lows will moderate a bit and should be in the mid to lower 40s next week. A weak weather disturbance will likely cross the area on Tuesday night and Wednesday with a chance of some showers.

By the end of next week, the outlook is for some milder weather Thursday and Friday. The forecast for these days calls for an offshore wind developing, and that will help warm us back up into the 65 to 70° range for daytime highs by Friday.

It should be a fun week to watch the weather and check out your favorite spot for the beautiful fall colors. A chance of rain is in the forecast for late day Tuesday and Wednesday morning, but milder weather looks to be on the way for the end of the week.
