Amazon launches 1-hour 'Prime Now' delivery in Seattle area

SEATTLE — Amazon announced Tuesday that Amazon Prime members using "Prime Now" in Seattle can take advantage of one-hour delivery not only within the company's hometown, but also to Bellevue, Redmond and Kirkland.

Two urban hubs in King County operate for Prime Now, a mobile application available exclusively to members of Amazon Prime.

"Prime Now is our fastest delivery option ever. With Prime Now, you can skip a trip to the store and get the items you need delivered right to your door in under an hour," said Stephenie Landry, director of Amazon's Prime Now service.

"Customers love the convenience of one-hour delivery, and we're excited to bring Prime Now to our hometown customers in Seattle and surrounding areas."

Amazon said it expects to quickly expand the service to other ZIP codes. The cost for two-hour delivery is free, but one-hour delivery is $7.99.

Customers can get one-hour delivery on tens of thousands of items like paper towels, wine, beer, chilled and frozen items like milk and ice cream, televisions and Kindle devices.
