SEATTLE — The new installation added this week at the Olympic Sculpture Park on the Seattle waterfront is getting mixed reviews from the public.
The 46-foot-tall face of a girl is named "Echo," after a nymph from Greek mythology who was deprived of speech, except to repeat the last words of another.
Some people gazing on the sculpture told The Seattle Times it's nice, weird or a waste of money. Someone said the white sculpture could use some color. Another said it was an awesome greeting for people arriving by boat.
The work by Spanish artist Jaume Plensa was given to the Seattle Art Museum from the collection of Barney A. Ebsworth.
"Echo" was originally installed in 2011 in Madison Square Park in New York City.
