19-year-old charged with vehicular homicide in car-bike crash

The 19-year-old was charged with vehicular assault after police and prosecutors say she ran a stop sign in Puyallup and slammed into 78-year-old Eric Renz, a pastor, as he rode his bicycle. Renz died December 10, and James was convicted of vehicular homicide in May 2015.

UPDATE: Kallie James pleaded guilty May 13 to vehicular homicide for the death of Pastor Eric Renz.

Pierce County prosecutors said James had been smoking marijuana before she ran the stop sign and hit Renz as he was riding his bike near the Washington state fairgrounds Nov. 24. Puyallup police said James' car kept going through an intersection slamming into a fence with Renz on the hood.
