The Whatcom County sheriff's office says a man forced his 10-year-old son to run for three hours on logging roads at the crack of a horse whip.
Other family members reported the 32-year-old man and another relative who were punishing the boy Sunday for not doing his chores properly at their home in Maple Falls.
The Bellingham Herald reports the boy was put in the care of other relatives, and his father was booked into the Whatcom County Jail
