KENT, Wash. — Police are investigating after an elderly man was hit and killed by an Amtrak train Sunday afternoon in Kent.
The incident happened at about 2 p.m. south of Kent Station at the East Titus Street railroad crossing.
According to police, witnesses said a man was walking on Titus Street, and bypassed the lowering control gates at the intersection onto the crossing. The train then struck the man.
Officials with Amtrak said a person was on the tracks when the passenger train hit the person.
Police told KIRO 7 the man has not been identified.
The passengers on board the train were not injured.
