Skies have cleared in many spots after morning cloud cover and while we’ll remain mainly clear to partly cloudy tonight, some clouds will redevelop early on Thursday. However, the skies should go mainly clear by afternoon in most spots. Highs will be in the 60s islands and coast with 70s elsewhere. A few spots in the South Sound near the Cascades could touch 80° Thursday.
Friday will be a similar story with some patchy morning cloud cover but then mainly sunny skies. Highs in Seattle will be in the upper 70s with some spots hitting 80 across the south.
The weekend warm spell will spill in to Monday and while record heat isn’t expect for most, the warmest day on Sunday will see the warmest temperatures of the year and a few degrees shy of daily records in spots.
Highs in Seattle and Tacoma will be around 80 to the low 80s Saturday, and I’m going for a high of 85° in Seattle on Sunday. The record high for the date is 87°, and it’s worth noting that this is one of the coolest daily records of the month (most days have record highs in the 90s this month.)
On Sunday, some of the hottest spots like some of the valleys in the Cascade foothills and interior parts of Pierce and Thurston counties could touch 90 degrees!
Fire danger will be elevated through early next week, though temperatures cool a few degrees each day starting Monday. We will go the first ten days of June without rainfall in Seattle, which hasn’t been done since 2014, and has only happened ten other times since records began at Sea-Tac in 1945. So, definitely not unheard of for this time of year, but unusual. Rain chances could return with cooler temperatures later next week into the following weekend, but details are not clear at this time.
