Drier Thursday with some sunshine

Cooler Friday with better rain chance to start weekend

Some lingering rain showers continue in the mountains but we’re pretty much done with precipitation in the lowlands with only a trace of rain at SEA Airport (meaning no measurable rain streak continues at 18 days). Across the South Sound and north of Everett, upwards of a tenth of an inch of rain fell.

We’re drying out tonight and through Thursday, expect a mix of clouds and sun – a very nice day indeed. Highs will be in the 60s to near 70.

A much more substantial weather system moving in from near Alaska will bring cooler temperatures to the area and rainfall into the weekend. The summer solstice is Friday at 7:42 p.m. and by then, we will have some mainly light rain showers moving across the area. Highs Friday will only be in the lower 60s in Seattle.

Rain will increase in intensity Friday night through Saturday morning, and this looks to be a good soaking rain for many parts of the area. This is excellent news after our dry start to June. Through midday Saturday when rain tapers to showers, most lowland locations can expect a quarter to half inch of rain, with even more in the mountains. We’ll also have some rainfall east of the Cascades, but it’s likely to be a little less than what we’ll get west of the crest. We will be drying out through late Saturday afternoon and Saturday evening. Highs Saturday will be unseasonably cool with highs only in the upper 50s to lower 60s.

Some sunshine will emerge on Sunday with highs back in the upper 60s. There will be a slim chance for a shower early in the day.

Another warmup is slated for early next week with highs in the 70s to near 80 in Seattle Monday through Wednesday before slightly cooler temperatures later next week.
