1 killed, 5 hurt after suspected drunken driver crashes into Missouri Wendy’s

SEDALIA, Mo. — A suspected drunken driver crashed into a Missouri Wendy's restaurant Monday evening, killing one woman and injuring at least five other people, authorities said.

According to the Sedalia Democrat, the incident occurred about 6 p.m. at the restaurant on Limit Avenue in Sedalia. The driver of a pickup truck veered off the road, hitting trees and landscaping before careening into the restaurant's dining room, Sedalia police said.

Police said an older woman was struck and killed, WDAF-TV reported. The five people who were hurt include an older man with serious injuries, a 10-year-old with moderate injuries and three adults with minor injuries, authorities said.

Police have not released the names of the suspect or victims. No further information was immediately available.

Officers arrested the driver, who was examined at a nearby hospital, on suspicion of driving under the influence, according to the news outlets.
