A family made a remarkable discovery on Camano Island that has left plenty of beachcombers a bit stunned.
The Camano Island family recently found a woolly mammoth tooth while beachcombing near their home.
To be precise, it is a molar.
By Friday afternoon, the Burke Museum of Natural History and Culture confirmed it was a tooth from a woolly mammoth that roamed the Northwest 12,000-30,000 years ago.
Marc Root said, at first, they did not know exactly what they found until they made a post on Facebook.
The Roots told the Skagit Valley Herald they are not sure if they will donate the tooth, keep it or sell it, as they declined to disclose the location of their find.
