Inslee: ‘Shot of Lifetime’ lottery boosted state COVID-19 vaccine rate by 24%

OLYMPIA, Wash. — Gov. Jay Inslee tweeted Wednesday that early estimates show that the state’s “Shot of a Lifetime” lottery boosted the state’s vaccination rate by 24%.

The estimate comes from the Institute for Disease Modeling, an organization within the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation.

The vaccine lottery was announced in early June with millions of dollars in prizes, including four $250,000 cash prizes and a $1 million prize winner that will be chosen next week.

In his tweet, Inslee said the 24% increase comes out to about 30,000 more Washington residents getting themselves vaccinated.
