SEATTLE — The Washington State Patrol says 17 vehicles were struck on northbound I-5 between the south end of Boeing Field and downtown Seattle Friday morning by a hit-and-run driver.
The vehicle that struck the other cars became disabled on the freeway at Yesler, where the left lane was blocked.
The driver who police say caused the crash was taken to Harborview Medical Center to be evaluated.
Troopers are investigating at the scene.
It is not yet known what caused her to strike the vehicles. Victims whose cars were hit said police told them the driver claimed she had not taken her medication and had experienced a "psychotic episode" in which she believed she was being chased.
No injuries were reported.
