Police: NJ woman drove drunk with 7 unbelted children in vehicle

A New Jersey woman is accused of driving drunk while seven children were in the vehicle and not wearing seatbelts, authorities said.

Paulino Rosendo-Camargo, 36, of Lakewood, was charged with second-degree endangering the welfare of a child, DWI, reckless driving, failure to maintain lane of travel, delaying traffic and failure to use a required child restraint, NJ.com reported.

During a traffic stop, Cecchini determined that Rosendo-Camargo was showing signs of being under the influence of alcohol, NJ.com reported. Officials said the seven children in the vehicle were not wearing seatbelts, the website reported.

According to a statement from Lakehurst Police Department Chief Matthew Kline, the incident occurred at 11:16 p.m. EDT on June 5. Kline said Lakehurst police Officer Gavin Cecchini saw Rosendo-Camargo driving erratically.

The seven children were taken into protective custody until another adult could pick them up, police said.
