CLEARWATER, Fla. — Police in Florida removed an unwelcome houssssssssse guessssssssssst from a Clearwater man’s home on Saturday, and there was some heavy lifting involved.
According to a post on the Clearwater Police Department’s official Facebook page, officers responded to the Marilyn Pines condominiums after a man reported that a snake was nesting in his couch.
According to Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission data, red-tailed boas, which are native to Central and South America and are typically about eight feet long, are “extremely common in the pet trade, and individuals sometimes escape or are released by owners,” the newspaper reported.
After carrying the couch outdoors, officers extracted a red-tailed boa constrictor estimated to be about five feet long, the Tampa Bay Times reported.
The snake was then taken to a local pet store, and officers returned the man’s couch to his residence, WFLA reported.
The man had purchased the couch days earlier, according to the TV station.
