A fight over a Nerf toy led to a 9-year-old fatally stabbing an 11-year-old boy in northern Pennsylvania, authorities said.
According to the Pennsylvania State Police, the incident occurred Saturday night in Bradford County near Ridgebury Township, WNEP reported. WETM reported.
At about 8 p.m. EDT, the two children were playing with Nerf toys when a scuffle occurred, WETM reported. During a “tug of war” over the Nerf gun, the 9-year-old, who was holding a knife, allegedly stabbed the older child in his upper chest region, according to the television station reported.
The victim was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead after life-saving efforts failed, WETM reported.
According to the Pennsylvania State Police, the case is being handled as a homicide, the television station reported.
Police said the investigation was ongoing, according to WNEP.
