Mayor Sylvester Turner said Floyd’s service could help repair the connection between police and the community, KPRC reported.

According to KPRC, Acevedo said, “If they give us that honor because we are bringing him home, we want to be part of that journey.”

The amount of security used to transport Floyd will be similar to that of when an officer dies in the line of duty, KTRK reported.

More information about Floyd’s funeral will be given Tuesday, according to KTRK.
