More companies are getting their holiday staffing set as UPS announced Wednesday that it will be hiring 100,000 workers for the season.

The company says there will be more packages being sent starting in October and will last through January.

“We’re preparing for a record peak holiday season. The COVID-19 pandemic has made our services more important than ever. We plan to hire over 100,000 people for UPS’s seasonal jobs, and anticipate a large number will move into permanent roles after the holidays. At a time when millions of Americans are looking for work, these jobs are an opportunity to start a new career with UPS,” the company said in a news release.

About 35% of people hired as seasonal package handlers over the past three years were eventually hired for permanent positions.

The jobs will be full- and part-time package handlers, drivers, driver-helpers and personal vehicle drivers.

Students can also earn money toward their college expenses in addition to their holiday pay.
