2 killed when Amtrak train, vehicle collide in California, police say

FRESNO, Calif. — Two people were killed when an Amtrak train collided with a vehicle in California, authorities said.

Police continue to investigate the case, KGPE reported. No further information was immediately available.

According to KGPE and KFSN, the incident occurred about 10:30 p.m. Monday near the intersection of South Maple and East Central avenues in Fresno. Fresno police said a car was trying to go past the railroad crossing arms when an Amtrak train struck the vehicle, KGPE reported.

The two people inside the car died in the crash, authorities said. Police said both victims were males but did not release their names or ages, according to KGPE.
