Time names Donald Trump 'Person of the Year'

Businessman turned politician president-elect Donald Trump has been named Time magazine's "Person of the Year" for 2016.

He joins the list shared by world leaders like Russian President Vladimir Putin and German Chancellor Angela Merkel. Merkel was chosen in 2015. Putin has held the honor twice in 2012 and 2007.

Big names in the tech world like Mark Zuckerberg, 2010 and Jeff Bezos, 1999, have been honored in the past.

Recent presidents have also appeared on Time's list. Former presidents George W. Bush, 2004 and 2000, and Bill Clinton, 1998, were named during their terms. Current president Barack Obama held the title in 2008.

While, groups of protesters, 2011, Ebola fighters, 2014, whistleblowers, 2002, and the American soldier, 2003, shared the titles over the past decade.

Hackers came in as number three in 2016's list.

Hillary Clinton came in second place in Time's selection.
