EATONVILLE, Wash. — A century-old farm in Eatonville is slated to become a STEM high school campus focused on agriculture.
STEM stands for science, technology, engineering and math education.
The 114-acre Burwash Farm was bought by the Nisqually Land Trust four years ago.
The Eatonville School District hopes to renovate the 103-year-old barn to help students learn new ways to farm.
“The Eatonville School District stepped up and said, ‘We’ll take the buildings. We want to convert it to a STEM campus – science technology, engineering and math for a high school’ – and so what they’re going to do, is they’re going to take the three acres and return it to a farmstead and grow food out here,” said Joe Kane with the Nisqually Land Trust.
