UPDATED RESULTS: Two Seattle Public Schools levies leading

Seattle voters are making a billion-dollar decision on whether to pass levies for Seattle Public School.

As of Wednesday, Seattle School District No. 1 Prop. 1, which renews the district's operations levy, is ahead.The operations levy would pay for a quarter of SPS' general fund for things like textbooks and teachers' salaries, and programs that aren't usually funded by the state.

The Elections Department will issue results again at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday and Friday.

Seattle School District No. 1 Prop. 2, is a capital levy, is also ahead. The capital levy would fund renovations to improve aging school facilities and opening more schools to ease overcrowding.

If approved, the average homeowner in the city would pay an extra $140 in taxes a year.
