SEATTLE — At 9:16 p.m., officers responded to reports of a stabbing at Martin Luther King Jr. Way South and South Hanford Street.
Police said two men broke into a parked car near south Hanford Street and Morse Avenue South and fled the scene on foot.
After the man was stabbed, he told his friend he had been stabbed and his friend pulled out a knife and stabbed the two men who broke into the car. They then fled the scene and were located by officers.
After leaving the scene, the two men ran into two other men who were drinking beer while sitting at a stairwell.
According to police, the two groups got into a verbal altercation. One of the men, who broke into the car, pulled out a weapon and stabbed one of the men, who was sitting on the stairwell.
Medics treated the four men at the scene and took the three men who were stabbed to Harborview Medical Center with life-threatening injuries. The other was released at the scene.
After investigating the scene, officers recovered a knife and a screwdriver believed to have been used during the incident.
The incident remains under investigation.
