Search for missing 11-year-old swimmer in Long Beach called off

LONG BEACH, Wash. — The Coast Guard has called off the search for a 11-year-old swimmer who was reported missing Thursday in Long Beach.

Officials with the Coast Guard said a 10-year-old boy and 11-year-old girl were swimming in the water.

The boy was recovered and taken to a hospital but the girl was still missing.

Crews searched the area near the intersection of First Street Northwest and the shoreline.

KOIN 6 reported that the search for the girl was called off and confirmed she had drowned.

There was a beach rescue crew, local fire department, and helicopter and boat crew helping in the search efforts.
